Sometimes it can seem impossible to find even 10 minutes to meditate. We are all so busy. I understand. The first video contains some thoughts and suggestions for realistically establishing your practice.
The second video, you guessed it, is today’s 10-minute practice.
Please forgive my rumpled appearance in both videos. It was one of those days. But still: we practice!

ahhhh, at minute 8 or so something different happened today (my 2nd week of meditating with you). A deepening of sorts, a feeling of heaviness (but in a good way).

So nice to know you, Sue. And it’s amazing how the practice feels different from session to session. A wonderful mirror!
A wonderful start to my day- thank you!
So glad to hear it!
And no crazy cats this time- they were curled up and snoozing!
exactly…
wonderful….very helpful…it is nice meditating with someone
Ditto!
Susan, I enjoy your meditations online. I have been meditating in variety of ways for about 30 years. I consider myself an advanced beginner. I think this is a general observation, but if it seems individual please send me a private email. I am in my late 50s and a lean body type. I don’t recall this being an issue when I was younger. When I meditate I hear my heart pumping. I work with accepting and going with that. Is there anything about the meditation breathing that might make the heart feel more loud or prominent? This is not a panic attack or a racing heart, but it is potentially distracting like a Edgar Allen Poe short story. And it can cause me to feel some worry. How do you recommend working with this occurrence? Same as with other body sensations?
Hi R L. There are two things you could experiment with. First, sometimes meditating for longer times (say, 20 minutes instead of 10 or 40 minutes instead of 30) can help.
Second, see what you think of this suggestion. You could make your heart the object of your meditation, just for a few minutes. Meaning, rather than placing your attention on your breath, you could actually place it on your beating heart. When attention strays, bring it back. Don’t meditate on your heart in order to slow it or quell its activity, but simply to get to know it. (Unless it freaks you out, in which case, don’t do it.)
Do this for a few minutes or until you think you can go back to your breath.
Please let me know how this sounds. Best! Susan
Thank you so much for people like you. My first time today, I was a
little distracted but will continue every day for the first month. I think
it might be just what I need.
Please keep me posted and let me know if you have questions or how I can help.
Susan, I just saw this email. I know nothing about meditating but I’m a serious insomniac and I think I’d like to learn to meditate, mainly to address this problem. I purchased the Holosynct tapes but I learned nothing from them. Maybe you could give me some direction on this.
I don’t know that meditation can help specifically with insomnia, but I know that it can be very helpful with a general health regime. It can also help with the anxiety that can accompany insomnia, but it isn’t really a cure.
Please keep me posted!! If I can help, let me know.
Susan,
I just meditated for my first time with you – I truly enjoyed the experience and found it to be extremely relaxing and positive. Thank you so much! I don’t think I ever would have done it if it weren’t for someone to guide me through it – that helped a LOT!
Have a joyful day!
Kim
Wonderful!!! Looking forward to practice together going forward– xo S
