When it comes to meditation practice, there are a lot of obstacles one might encounter. We’re too busy. We don’t think it’s really “working.” Or we’re just completely tired and the idea of fitting one more “to-do” on the overwhelming to-do list is just too much.
All of these obstacles are actually called by the same name in Buddhist thought. There is really only one major obstacle…

..so thanks a lot for posting this ..
I really liked todays’ session mainly because it helped clarify a lot of otherwise easily overlooked “concept” of laziness. I think i am in a much better position now to recognize laziness and deal with it, when it comes, if it comes lol
I would really appreciate however if you could also post a transcript of videos like these, like the one above., along with the audio. Just a suggestion. Love, Oxalis.

I can try to post transcripts, but that means I need to transcribe the videos myself. (I’m a one-person operation…) But I’ll see what I can do.
If laziness is the #1 obstacle then my #2 obstacle is fear. Fear that I will lose the crutches that I use to self-medicate my pain and fear that I won’t be able to handle, solve or discover/understand the sources of my pain. So yes I do hope that meditation will help my depression, anxiety, fear. I sat with you for ten minutes today and survived. So that is a start. Thankyou.
A very good start, Paul. Meditation can help with anxiety but it takes time and patience–and gentleness! So please always start by being kind to yourself.
The first video, on getting started, was very helpful to me because I am too busy with accomplishing other things. It said the first thing to do is to move to the seat where you will be meditating. The seat I have picked out is way in the corner of a back room so I moved the chair right into my home office where its easily accessible. I set up a little table in front of it and included a stick-on with the reasons why I want to meditate. The second thing I learned from the video is to meditate for a very short time in order to get started. So the next step is to go and sit on the chair at the time I have picked out to meditate even if its just for 5 seconds and once I get started I can meditate for 5 minutes and build up to 10 minutes. So when I say to myself I don’t have time, I will surely have 5 seconds, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes since its so important.

wonderful essential videos today. for those wondering about the small size and wanting it larger: Control+Click on Mac or Right Mouse Click on Windows will bring up a menu that has a mink to the Vimeo site, which is the large format.

it was hard to access the videos but I got better luck with the first by switching to wifi access and with the second by refreshing the page.
