The first paramita, generosity, is discussed here.
In previous posts, we have been hearing a bit about the Six Paramitas, or transcendent virtues. As meditators, we can know that our practice is actually teaching us how to manifest all six.
The first paramita, generosity, is discussed here.
The second paramita, discipline is discussed here.
In the video on the left, I discuss paramitas #3 (patience) and #4 (exertion).
The video below is today’s 10-minute practice. Please practice!

Thank you Susan for your wonderful teaching. When you said “cheer up” my eyes started tearing up with all the joy and sadness that these teachings evoke which then gave me a big tearful smile! A big warrior bow and love~ Jane
I know exactly what you mean, Jane. We are so lucky. Deep bow back, S
Great teaching! I am French and regularly following your blog from Thailand, were I live. I had never heard about exertion before.. For the last few months I’ve been extremely lacking of energy, so much that I could not keep up with my work or other duties.. this situation makes me think even more about all the things that need to be done, leaving me with even less energy… for doing nothing! Thankfully my (very humble) practice is keeping me up. I have noticed that thinking about many things actually takes over more energy than taking action! Thanks for the focusing tip and for giving me my new mantra: CHEER UP!
I cheered up just reading this!
And it is so meaningful to me to know, as I sit here in Cambridge, Massachusetts and you in Thailand, that we practice together. That is awesome. xo S
Wow…finding this video today, validated where my husband and I have decided to be internally right now regarding a very difficult decision as to where we want to be in the world. We have both agreed to continue being present with each other, and trusting that our tailor made answer will appear when we are both ready to hear it. No ultimatums…just being together and trusting in that energetic space we have decided to create together. Thank you and I’m looking forward to reading more about your own experiences.
Stacie, I really respect this way of approaching each other and I wish you and he all the blessings of love… xoxo S
