First time visit to the Open Heart Project?

Welcome! I am so happy you’ve signed up and even happier that you have some inspiration to practice meditation. I will do my best to help you.

Each newsletter contains either one or two videos. Most often, there is a single video to guide you through a 10-minute meditation practice. Before we begin, I try to answer (very, very briefly) a common question about meditation practice or offer you a thought I have found particularly inspirational.

Sometimes I can’t stop myself and want to say more to you! On those days, there is a second video that goes into some more depth on  a topic that relates to meditation practice, such as working with strong emotions, how meditation can improve your relationships, and the connection between mindfulness-awareness practice and creativity.

Each video is also offered as an audio-only file.

The written piece that accompanies most videos is largely repeated in the video, although I do sometimes riff in different directions on the video. However, the video/audio files and essay are basically the same. Some people would rather watch. Some would rather listen. Some would rather read. Something for everyone.

The best way to enter the OHP is to simply start with the video you receive first. They are offered in a non-sequential way and each video offers introductory instruction and insights.

(If, after some time, you find that you want to take a step beyond the introductory practice, you may sign up for the Open Heart Project Practitioner newsletter which offers meditation sessions of varying lengths and detail, regular secondary videos about how to apply the fruits of your practice to your work life, love life, and creative pursuits,  as well occasional free webinars, a book club, and a monthly check-in. It costs $180 for a year, or $15 a month.)

Please practice! This is the most important thing.

The newsletter comes two times per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, usually late in the day. If you start to get overwhelmed, just delete! Do what you can! Don’t beat yourself up! Actually, this is the most important thing.
