Meditation practice begins with taking the right posture. Some posture hints for sitting on a cushion on the floor here.

If you choose to sit in a chair instead (which is totally fine), simply sit with your feet flat on the floor. You might want to place a cushion under your feet to elevate your knees so they are parallel with your hip bones.Try to scoot forward so your back isn’t leaning against anything.
