What is meant by emptiness?

Hello, dear meditator. A few weeks ago, I asked you what questions you had that I could answer in future videos. It turns out that I am a genius because you got back to me with great questions.

This week I answer a question from Bee:

I would like to know about “emptiness.” I feel like I understand it, but when I get there, I find it terrifying. Like there is no anchor from me to the world, and to let go would be to disintegrate. Like it is the last great attachment. Is it something in me that I need to let go of? How to get to the other side of this fear? Is there really peace on the other side? Is it normal to be afraid at first?

I love this question for a lot of reasons. First, I resonate with it. Second, it gives me a chance to talk about Buddhist philosophy which I love to attempt. Thanks, Bee!

Do you have a question for me? I’d be happy to try to answer it. There are one of two ways I can do that:

  1. Leave your question in comments below, or
  2. Click on this link to leave me your question in a phone message and I will answer it on my new podcast, “Ask Susan.” And if you’d like to listen to previous episodes you can find the podcast on iTunes.

With love,

Susan
