Hello! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful season, wherever you are. Here in the Northeastern US, we are seeing some lovely sunshine and warmth.
Recently, we have been looking at each of the eight steps of the Noble Eightfold Path. These are the steps we could take to attain liberation from suffering. The first six were Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Livelihood, Right Action, Right Effort, and now…Right Mindfulness.
Here, mindfulness does not mean being great at meditation, particularly. It has more to do with the interplay between your inborn awareness and all of the phenomena you encounter.
As you sit today, please contemplate how truly vast your mind is. It can encompass subject, object, environment, and sense perceptions all at once. In other words, you are a genius. Right Mindfulness simply reminds you that this is so.
With love, Susan
