Tyra! Me! Relationships!

December 5, 2007   |   7 Comments

Taping an interview today on the Tyra Banks show!!! Totally came out of the blue. As these things do. I’ll be talking with Tyra and a very adorable couple about their plans to marry and why it’s important to ask The Hard Questions. I don’t know when it will air; perhaps Valentine’s Day.

From past experience, I know that being on TV is a total roller coaster ride. One minute you think you’re a serious superstar with important things to say to the people of the world and the next you think you’re a total loser who is fatuous AND fat. Neither one is true. Neither one is true. Neither one is true. I have to remember this and just keep my eye on trying to be a human who is helpful to other humans. Unless my segment gets canned in which case I’ll be a raving lunatic.

You never know!!

Thank you for this chance, Tyra!!

Time to wear kicka– Vajra boots! šŸ˜‰

Thanks for this blog, Susan–as someone also interested in music, words, meditation, Enneastuff, and the visual, I find much richness here.

All best wishes! Hope it went well.

Many thanks, Carol. So great to know someone who shares all these interests… And I DID wear kicka-Vajra boots!! In the form of 70s vintage Charlie’s Angels-ish high heeled boots. Great advice!!

I think it went well, in the sense that I didn’t burst into tears before, during, or after the taping from feelings of inadequacy. See today’s blog post for more–

PS Do you know your enneagram number?

Great account of your day around Tyra! Yes, I bet it felt indeed like a rollercoaster ride–it really read that way.

I’m a flaming 4 who flaps back and forth between the wings like a windshield wiper. You?

I’m still trying to de-poof my hair.

I’m a 4 too. Flaming! It seems like I also move between the 2 wings. After giving this some YEARS of thought, I really don’t believe in the wing theory–that you’re always a 4w3 or 8w7 or whatever. I think we all bounce back and forth between both wings. I do, however, put a lot of stock in the subtypes. Looove the subtypes. Do you know your subtype? I’m a self-preservation 4. In fact, I was convinced I was a 5 until I read about the self-pres 4 and boom, bullseye, a spookily accurate description of my “specialness…”

Hmmmm…I find myself going more in the self-preservation direction as I get older, and would say I’m definitely not the social subtype, that only leaves…..! It’s weird, though–although I find myself looking for that “magic charge” (externally) less often, it still drives me in a subtle and insidious way.

    Hair, hair, isn’t it fun?

How about when you were younger? Did you tend to be more self-pres or more one-to-one?

I think I know what you mean about looking for the magic charge. Externally or otherwise. Personally, I don’t think it’s a bad driver. I guess it all depends on what happens after you find it…

Regarding the Enneagram, searching for charge could be any of the 4 subtypes, but esp, probably, self-pres and sexual.

I could go on like this all day.

It *is* fascinating–in reading descriptions of the subtypes, the intimate type pinches and makes me flinch–probably because it sticks. It’s the thread that’s run through everything.

On second thought, if the sp subtype is dauntless, then actually I was more like that when younger. I don’t mess with high stakes nearly as often now…I think.

Cool new video-the red really pops–looks like blood, a heart.
